Boating in and around the area is amazing .. however, know the rules of the road (water), and be cautious during low tides as many areas are extremely shallow.

RULES

Florida requires any one born after January 1, 1988 to have a Boating Safety Education ID Card to operate a motorized vessel of 10 horsepower or greater.

SLOW SPEED, NO WAKE

NO WAKE means coming completely off plane and traveling at or near idle speed. The V-shape wave behind the watercraft should not exist or be so small as not to reach the seawall or other watercraft. Apply this low speed when you enter a “no-wake zone” or any area where your wake could compromise the safety of people, other boats or property– SLOW DOWN!!!

To report violators, call MANATEE MARINE SHERIFF at 941 744-3730

Navigating THE BAY

Palma Sola Bay is an extremely shallow bay. Follow the Navigational Markers – Red (triangles) and Green (squares) to get to and from the bays, Intracoastal Waterway and Gulf of Mexico. The water in surrounding areas is low in depth, stay in the marked channels and check your depth gauge frequently.

BOATER BEWARE!

DOCKING

If you are bringing a boat to the property, please be sure to tie it up correctly and take into account for tidal change (up to 4ft swings), wind, weather conditions, and canal traffic. Always wrap your lines around the pilings and do  not reply on mounted cleats (which are for short term use only)

Wildlife

There are many species of wild life in the area to enjoy!

Marine Mammal/Turtle

MANATEE/DOPHINS

There is a large fine for feeding, chasing or molesting manatees or dolphins. You must stay 50 feet away from dolphins and manatees and may not actively chase them.

FEEDING WILDLIFE

Florida has concerns with preserving birds and other wildlife for future generations. As a result, bird feeding is strictly regulated to protect endangered species by preventing dependency on humans for survival.

TIKI HUT FAN, LIGHT, SPEAKER

SENSITIVE PLUMBING

This house was built in 1971 and has cast iron pipes — which in Florida means sensitive plumbing.  Please only flush toilet paper and everything else place in the trash.  And be gentle on the garbage disposal, 99% of food scraps and such need to go in the trash and use the disposal sparingly (not for excessive food scraps)

FISHING FROM DOCK

You are welcome to fish from the dock.  We catch snook, trout, sheepshead, redfish, pinfish, jack, and other fish off the dock.  HOWEVER please do NOT leave your line out and unmonitored.  Boats cruise up the down the canal frequently and we do not want to have fishing line tangled in their propellers.

BAIT FREEZER

There is a bait/fish freezer on the north side of the house outside. You are welcome to use this freezer for your bait, however please do not take existing contents as they belong to the property owner.

CANAL

The canal is 1 to 5 feet deep in most parts. Tenants should NEVER enter the canal. However, if someone does fall in there is an aluminum ladder on the north side of the house which can be used to exit. Be cautious of oysters and sealife that may have sharp edges and be attached to the ladder!
